07 Apr EY SURVEY: INVESTORS VALUE CORPORATE ESG REPORTING

Following the Bloomberg/Carney task force recommendations that companies should include climate data in their mainstream financial reporting, an EY survey reveals that the majority of investors value ESG and non-financial reporting by investee companies.

The survey – Is your non-financial performance revealing the true value of your business to investors? – finds that a large majority of the 320 institutional investors interviewed (82%) say that ESG risks have been ignored for too long by global business. Four out of five think that companies do not adequately disclosure non-financial material risks, CTMfile reports.

Additionally, 89% agree that a focus on ESG issues can generate sustainable returns over time, with almost 70% saying that non-financial performance played a pivotal role “frequently” or “occasionally” in their investment decision making in the past 12 months.
