22 Mar London tops Global Green Finance Index
A new index measuring the progress of the world’s financial centres towards sustainability has ranked London in first place.
The Global Green Finance Index, published by campaign group Finance Watch and consultancy Z/Yen, seeks to measure perceptions of the quality and depth of green financial products across global financial hubs. It found that Western Europe scored the highest, featuring nine of the top 10 centres for quality of its green finance offering, and seven of the top 10 for penetration (the proportion of green finance within the financial centre’s overall activities).
San Francisco and Washington ranked as the top North American centres, while Chinese centres also performed well, with Shanghai and Shenzhen top in the Asia Pacific region for quality and penetration respectively.
